We provide high quality site preparation, land development and construction integration services. Our services are in sand & gravel, recycling, land development, farm/municipal drainage and sewer & watermain.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Controller is a key financial leader responsible for managing accounting operations, financial reporting, project costing, cash flow management, and compliance. This key person will work closely with the Director of Finance, Project Managers, Department Managers to ensure financial stability, profitability and regulatory compliance in a highly dynamic and project-driven industry.

- We’re looking for a detail-loving, strategy-savvy, construction-finance aficionado to lead the financial charge in our heavy civil construction operations. You'll be the calm in the cash flow storm, the budget whisperer, and the go-to guru for job costing, forecasting, payroll, and more.
- You’ll work closely with our Director of Finance (who’s actually pretty cool), a team of awesome project managers (with excellent donut game), and department leaders to make sure our financial engine hums like a freshly tuned excavator.
- Help steer the ship with insights that go beyond “cut costs”
- Partner with the Director of Finance to build long-term success (and maybe early retirement… we can dream)
- Act as the bridge between finance and operations – no hard hat required
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Be on a first-name basis with GAAP, IFRS, EBITDA, and all those fun acronyms




- Keep our audits smooth and our reports spotless
- Track costs like a hawk – materials, labour, equipment, subs – you name it
- Keep project managers grounded in financial reality
- Command the WIP report and bring your monthly reporting wizardry
- Create budgets that actually work
- Forecast like a financial weatherperson (but more accurate)
- Make sure we have the cash to get the job done (and buy coffee)
- Keep vendors paid, cash flowing, and compliance on point
- Oversee payroll for union and non-union employees without breaking a sweat
- Stay ahead of tax filings, remittances, and reporting
- Build systems that keep us safe, compliant, and audit-ready
- Spot risk before it becomes a very expensive surprise
- Tune our financial software like a well-oiled machine
- Find smarter, faster ways to get things done
- Lead and mentor the finance team with clarity, kindness, and caffeine
- Collaborate cross-functionally with construction and operations teams

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Construction Management
5+ years in construction or manufacturing finance
CPA or CMA preferred
Proven experience in job costing, WIP, and progress billing
- Proficient in construction accounting tools like Sage 300, Maestro, Bid2Win, or Acumatica
Advanced Excel user (VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables – the works)
Knowledgeable in bonding, insurance, and compliance
- Leadership, logic, and laser-sharp focus
A communicator who speaks both “finance” and “construction” fluently
Thrives in a fast-paced, project-based setting
- Occasional travel within Southwestern Ontario to visit sites and attend industry events.
