nWe are seeking an experienced and reliable Horticultural Crew Leader to lead a small crew delivering high-quality garden and landscape maintenance services to primarily residential and select commercial properties.n
This position focuses on horticultural care, pruning, garden presentation, and seasonal maintenance, with some lawn maintenance responsibilities as required. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong plant knowledge, leadership ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high service standards and client satisfaction.

Leadership Responsibilities

- Lead, train, and support a maintenance crew of 2–4 team members
n
- Plan daily horticultural maintenance tasks and allocate labour efficiently
n
- Maintain high standards for garden care and overall property presentation
n
- Ensure crew members follow company policies, safety procedures, and service expectations
n
- Communicate daily progress, priorities, and property concerns with management
n
- Support the development of crew members’ pruning and plant-care skills
n
- Maintain a professional and positive crew environment
n
nHorticultural Maintenance ResponsibilitiesnPrimary responsibilities include hands-on garden maintenance such as:nn
- Garden bed maintenance and detailing
n
- Shrub and hedge pruning
n
- Perennial care and seasonal cutbacks
n
- Deadheading and shaping ornamental plant material
n
- Small tree pruning (within safe working limits)
n
- Weeding and cultivation
n
- Mulching and soil improvement
n
- Monitoring irrigation systems (visual inspection)
n
- Identifying plant health concerns including pests, disease, and drought stress
n
- Reporting recommendations for corrective action or improvements
n
nSeasonal responsibilities include:nn
- Spring garden preparation and cleanups
n
- Fall cutbacks and winter preparation
n
- Bulb planting and seasonal rotations (where applicable)
n
- Assistance with planting installations when required
n
- Participation in winter snow operations (if applicable)
n
nLawn Maintenance Responsibilities (Supporting Role)nThis role includes some lawn maintenance duties as part of complete property care:nn
- Mowing residential and select commercial properties
n
- String trimming and edging
n
- Blowing hard surfaces clean
n
- Monitoring turf health concerns and reporting issues
n
nThe primary focus of this position remains garden and horticultural maintenance rather than production mowing.nEquipment & Safety Responsibilitiesn

- Confidently operate pickup trucks and landscape trucks
n
- Safely tow trailers between sites
n
- Operate commercial maintenance equipment including:
n
- push and ride-on mowers
n
- hedge trimmers
n
- string trimmers
n
- backpack blowers
n
- Perform routine equipment care including:
n
- blade changes
n
- cleaning filters
n
- inspections and lubrication
n
- Ensure equipment remains clean and jobsite-ready
n
- Follow and enforce company safety procedures and proper PPE use
n
nCustomer Service & Reportingnn
- Represent the company professionally on site
n
- Communicate with clients when appropriate
n
- Identify property concerns and enhancement opportunities
n
- Report additional work opportunities to management
n
- Complete job logs, timesheets, and service reports accurately and consistently
n
nQualificationsnn
- Minimum 2–3 years of horticultural or landscape maintenance experience
n
- Previous crew leadership experience preferred
n
- Robust knowledge of:
n
- pruning techniques
n
- shrubs and perennials
n
- seasonal garden maintenance practices
n
- Ability to safely operate commercial landscape equipment
n
- Valid driver’s license required
n
- Strong organizational and communication skills
n
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

nJob Type: Full-timenPay: $25.00-$28.00 per hourn
