They are responsible for orders and the optimal scheduling of human resources provided by the Maritime Employers Association (MEA) to meet the productivity and customer service objectives of MGT's two terminals. They collaborate with the operations management team on various initiatives to increase efficiency and implement performance control measures with a view to developing MGT's culture of continuous improvement. The Operations Supervisor is involved in various service management mandates, supporting operations, human resources management, and health and safety management. Coordinate communications with railway operators and the Montreal Port Authority for both terminals. Communicate and oversee instructions to terminal superintendents, based on operational priorities (loading, unloading, destinations). Manage attendance and maintain effective working relationships with General Foremen (GCM), stevedores, and the Maritime Employers Association (MEA).
Collaborate with Operations Directors to monitor productivity and ensure effective operational communications. Oversee the training of stevedores in collaboration with the MEA, including tracking training performance. Manage snow removal contracts across the terminals. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in the local Health and Safety Committee. University or college degree in operations management, transportation logistics, or a related field. ~Experience managing unionized employees. ~ Availability to work weekends on a rotational basis. ~ Ability to work a rotating schedule (two weeks on day shift, two weeks on evening shift). ~ Experience in the maritime or transportation industry (an asset). ~ Excellent command of French (spoken and written). ~ French is mandatory, but an advanced proficiency in English is also required due to the international nature of the company and the need to interact with international clients and partners, as well as to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues.
