About the role

The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for developing procedures to maintain or improve plant operations and gold recoveries, optimizing usage of consumables through research and development, as well as reconciling gold and for all aspects of metallurgical accounting at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation.

This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy.

The position will be on an 8/6 (10.5 – hour day) roster and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.

The compensation range for this role is $, to $, CAD.

Key result areas in this role include:

- Research and develop improvements of processing operation and gold recoveries, and optimize the use of consumables.

- Develop policies, procedures and plant test work related to process improvements.

- Set parameters for process plant to ensure it is operated in the safest, cost-effective and most efficient manner for optimum recovery.

- Compile and issue daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical balance sheets.

- Responsible for the month end mill production reconciliation.

- Troubleshoot production and process problems and make recommendations for improvements.

- Supervise the metallurgy teams.

- Schedule equipment downtime.

- Supervise the installation and commissioning of new equipment and processes.

- Maintain inventory of mill consumables (e.g. reagents, liquid oxygen, grinding media).

- Complete assigned project work for potential plant expansion.

- Work in a healthy work environment with full support,

- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.

- Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

As a Senior Metallurgist, you will possess a Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering or similar discipline and be registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:

- 5-10 years experience as a Process Metallurgist

- Able to work with and understand budgets

- Meticulous attention to detail

- Extensive background in data analysis

- Superior numeric and analytical ability

- Solid comprehension and interpretation of technical language, data and reports

- Contributes to overall success of the team

- Maintains confidentiality in all company dealings

- Proficient computer skills, with strong working knowledge of spreadsheets

- Superior organizational and time management abilities

- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work with others

- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.





- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

- Remains focused during challenging situations and functions well under pressure

- Implement and foster safety culture and performance standards initiatives

- Possesses a solid work ethic

- Strives to achieve personal goals and objectives

- Works productively alone or in a team environment

- Able to work effectively with limited supervision
