LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager – as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, the RPN uses the nursing process to provide care to a patient or group of patients as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

- Currently registered with the College of Nurses, diploma RPN
- Medication administration certificate from a fully accredited community college
- Current B.C.L.S required
- Able to perform added nursing skills as required
- Follows safe and healthy working practices and maintains a secure and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established reporting mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adherence to health and safety related policies and procedures
- Recent experience in a Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit or Complex Continuing Care Unit,



Long term care or equivalent within the last 5 years is an asset
- Experience caring for seniors is an asset
- Evidence of attending ongoing continuing education courses in Rehabilitative Care is an asset
- Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care Certificate is an asset
- SMART moves training is an asset
- Experience working with patients requiring Palliative Care is an asset
- Experience working with stroke patients is an asset

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

- Physical ability to lift, pull, push, carry, reach and physically support patients
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with repetitive bending
- Ability to focus on complex instructions and tasks in an active, rapidly changing environment
- Above average written and verbal communication skills, including listening
- Able to function as a team member and maintain good interpersonal relations while performing duties

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire.

This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
