Carpenter Canada Co. has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician at our Calgary, AB manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for optimizing maintenance productivity and asset reliability by creating detailed job plans and coordinating schedules with operations to minimize downtime. Maintenance Technician prepares work orders and ensures safety compliance, acting as a crucial link between maintenance teams and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Planning: Develop, plan, and schedule preventive and predictive maintenance, translating maintenance strategies into actionable work tasks.
- Resource Coordination: organize spare parts and tools prior to maintenance tasks.
- Scheduling: Collaborate with operations to schedule work, focusing on future tasks to ensure workforce productivity.
- Data Management: Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document procedures, track equipment history, and reports.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations,
environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze maintenance history to identify trends, eliminate inefficiencies, and optimize recurring tasks.
- Liaise with Maintenance Manager to ensure timely completion of the PMs.
- Adhere to health and safety rules and protocols.
- Use Kaizen continuous improvement methods to achieve goals.
- Promote and maintain the value of order philosophy and activities.
- Maintain applied knowledge of company's H&S; management system.
- Maintain applied knowledge of company's Quality management system.
- Maintain applied knowledge of relevant SAP transactions.
Skills and Requirements
- Education: A degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or facilities management.
- Experience: Proven experience as a maintenance technician or planner is required, with 3–5 years in a technical or industrial environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with CMMS software, MS Office/Excel, and knowledge of technical manuals and reliability principles. SAP experience is an asset.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze workflows and equipment performance data.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication to coordinate with vendors, technicians, and management.
- Organizational Skills: Meticulous approach to planning and managing multiple, simultaneous projects.
