Work mode: Hybrid (1 day onsite per week – approx. 5 hours)
Employment Type: Part time (20 hours/week)
Pay-rate: $28/hour

Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Officer to support the management of core accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance activities. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who can effectively balance day-to-day accounting operations with strategic financial analysis.
Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the successful candidate will provide guidance to the bookkeeper and play a key role in reviewing and maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting processes, and ensuring smooth accounting operations across multiple client portfolios. Experience with cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, and Zoho Books is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Monitor financial performance, budgets, and cash flow projections
- Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management
- Support financial planning and forecasting processes
Accounting Operations
- Oversee full-cycle accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions
- Maintain and improve accounting systems,
processes, and internal controls
- Provide oversight and support to bookkeeping staff as required
Compliance & Tax
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and/or review GST/HST filings, payroll remittances, and other statutory filings
- Support corporate tax preparation processes
- Maintain audit-ready financial records and liaise with external auditors as needed
Client & Stakeholder Support
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients on accounting and financial matters
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support client decision-making
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality client service
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and improve efficiency
- Implement best practices in financial management and reporting
- Support adoption, transition and optimization of cloud-based accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 2-5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, financial modeling)
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho or similar)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- CPA or CFA designation, or currently working toward a CPA/CFA credential
- Master’s degree (completed or in progress) in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in a consulting, multi-client, or professional services environment
- Experience in financial forecasting and business advisory
Eligibility
This position is open to all candidates legally eligible to work in Canada. Temporary residents must have a work permit valid for at least 6-months from start date.
