DHL Express is looking for an Operations Supervisor (Exports) at their facility in Richmond, BC . This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for the daily export, clearance, and transit of packages and freight, within prescribed standards of cost, efficiency, accuracy and on‑time distribution.
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely departure of aircraft on a daily basis with proper freight security and loading
- Liaise between key internal and external stakeholders (forwarders, customs, internal departments)
- Connect all export material daily by coordinating with debrief/supervisor team
- Ensure all shipments comply with high security standards using X‑ray screening, ETD, and physical inspections
- Obtain trainer certification to deliver CIS, Security, and airside training to staff
- Maintain and monitor employee compliance with all required training programs
- Establish and implement productivity, quality, and cost measurements
- Manage, coach and develop team members through feedback and recognition
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of freight daily
- Ensure staff permits and air operation audits are up to date
- Complete accurate and timely reports for management (schedules, attendance, dangerous goods incidents, WSB reports)
- Ensure successful implementation of scanning technology
- Maintain equipment in safe, effective operating condition
- Establish and maintain a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and collective agreement
- Address customer complaints and escalated items professionally
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management position (warehouse or logistics industry preferred)
- College or University designation
- Knowledge and compliance with Dangerous Goods regulations
- Ability to obtain Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) per Transport Canada guidelines
- Experience with Canada Customs is an asset
- Experience managing operations with components of aviation regulations is an asset
- Prior experience with lean / process improvement initiatives
- Working knowledge of Collective Agreements and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to make quick decisions and adapt to changing circumstances
- Must pass criminal background check for all countries lived in for the past 5 years
College or University designation; 3+ years supervisory or management experience in warehouse or logistics; knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations; ability to obtain RAIC; working knowledge of Collective Agreements and Occupational Health and Safety Act
