Position Overview: Freight Team Associates are responsible for stocking merchandise, organizing the sales floor to create a pleasant and secure shopping environment, and providing customer service as required. Most associates operate reach trucks, forklifts and order picker machines to bring down merchandise to the sales floor. They pick orders when assigned and carefully pack them to ensure products are not damaged, and accurately label and place orders into specified holding areas.
Responsibilities
- Stock merchandise onto shelves to achieve 100% in stock.
- Packing-out and packing-down merchandise as directed.
- Merchandising new items and promotions.
- Maintain aisle cleanliness and shoppability to ensure merchandise is accessible and presented in a visually appealing manner.
- Maintain and organize overheads (e.g., striping overheads).
- Communicate with other freight team members to ensure all product is stocked in the proper area.
- Follow Home Depot’s Get Model of Customer Service: Greeting, Engaging, and Thanking the Customer.
- If required, ask open-ended questions about the customer’s projects to determine their needs and level of expertise.
- Move freight safely from designated staging areas to overheads or bring merchandise down from overheads using appropriate equipment.
- Ensure customers can move through aisles easily and safely.
- Follow all Safety and Loss Prevention Policies and Procedures.
- Show action orientation, effective communication, customer focus, and drive results.

Physical Requirements
- Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.
- Climbing ladders up to 12–16 feet to obtain or stock merchandise.
Working Conditions
- Work within a flexible schedule that includes overnight shift and may include evening and weekends.
- Warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy.
- Passing forklifts emit gas fumes.
- Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
Minimum Years of Work Experience
- 1 to 2 years Retail or Distribution experience (an asset).

- None
Other Requirements/Assets
- Knowledge of operating reach trucks, forklifts and order picker machines (an asset).
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
