Key job responsibilities

- Develop new inference and training techniques to improve the performance of Large Language Models for Smart Home control and Automation
- Develop robust techniques for synthetic data generation for training large models and maintaining model generalization
- Research, experiment and build Proof Of Concepts advancing the state of the art in AI & ML for GenAI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and execute technically rigorous AI projects.
- Thrive in agile environment, adapting quickly to evolving technical requirements and deadlines.
- Engage in effective technical communication (written & spoken) with coordination across teams.
- Conduct thorough documentation of algorithms, methodologies, and findings for transparency and reproducibility.
- Publish research papers in internal and external venues of repute.
- Support on-call activities for critical issues.
- Mentor junior scientists to improve their skills, knowledge, and their ability to get things done.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

The base salary range for this position is 195,900.00 - 327,200.00 CAD annually. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D; insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well‑being.
