Course Code: KIN8136H: Physical Activity for Persons with Disabilities

Course description: This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of physical activity for individuals with disabilities. This course explores various disabilities and their impact on motor, sensory, and cognitive functioning and overall well-being. Students will learn strategies to support the physical activity of persons with disabilities in a variety of physical activity settings, inclusive teaching and assessment methods, and how to design individualized exercise programs to enhance the well-being of persons with disabilities. Through a combination of lectures and practical activities, emphasis will be placed on promoting inclusivity, accessibility and empowerment through physical activity.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - December 30, 2026

Minimum Qualifications: PhD preferred in a relevant area, or combination of relevant expertise and experience. Teaching experience in college or university setting is an asset.

Description of duties: All duties associated with the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments,



tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course, if applicable. This course will be taught in person.

Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
