Key qualifications:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited institution approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE.
- Must be able to travel and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and transport children and families as part of service delivery.
- Strong assessment, communication, and decisionmaking abilities.
- Capacity to work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and First Nation Child and Family Service agencies.
Key knowledge and skills include:
- Assessing child safety
- Investigating allegations of neglect or abuse
- Evaluating family functioning
- Determining risk
- Developing and implementing intervention plans
- Providing ongoing support
- Managing cases where children enter care, including placement, assessment, treatment planning, and preparing children for reunification or longterm care planning.
