What we offer Mattamy Homes has an exciting new opportunity for a Director, Construction Innovation to join our GTA Homebuilding team and support the evolution of how we build. This role strengthens construction methods, production performance and capability‑building while partnering closely with the SVP, Operations and Directors of Construction as the business explores new ways of delivering housing across the GTA.
This is a highly influential role for a leader who can connect today’s construction realities with future‑focused approaches; supporting operational excellence, advancing production discipline and helping the organization thoughtfully adopt new construction methods over time.
What you’ll do
Reporting to the SVP, Operations and in partnership with the GTA Construction Leadership Team, this role is tasked with the innovation and evolution of construction methods, standards and production practices across our Homebuilding operations in the GTA.
Advance and embed these construction process innovations within our teams to improve predictability,
productivity and quality.
Lead the business’s adoption of modular, panelized and other emerging building approaches by helping translate concepts into practical field‑ready applications.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across construction delivery leveraging data, production metrics and operational insights to identify opportunities for efficiency and scalability.
Establish and refine production benchmarks, operating rhythms and critical path standards to support consistent execution across communities.
Act as a key liaison between Homebuilding Operations and internal manufacturing, technical and innovation partners ensuring alignment and practical applicability for the field.
Monitor industry trends, regulatory considerations and emerging construction practices; bringing forward insights and recommendations to inform future‑state planning.
Champion the adoption of tools, processes and practices that enhance construction delivery while respecting the realities of site operations.
What you’ll bring
10+ years of progressive experience in construction, operations or production‑focused roles within residential, and ICI or industrialized construction environments.
Post‑secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related discipline is required.
Strong understanding of construction methods, production sequencing and field execution with exposure to modular, panelized or off‑site construction approaches.
Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority working effectively across all levels – executive, senior leaders, field teams and cross‑functional partners.
Leadership skills – able to inspire,
build and develop teams and effectively execute on people, project and process goals.
Experience driving operational improvement through standards metrics and disciplined execution.
Strategic mindset with the ability balance near‑term operational needs with longer‑term evolution of construction practices.
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with a practical collaborative approach.
Alignment with Mattamy’s cultural values customer‑focused humble cutting-edge ambitious collaborative and bold.
Bonus points
An MBA or additional training in operational excellence lean construction or manufacturing integration.
Exposure across multiple construction industries and best practices.
