The Opportunity

Shape the future of responsible mining in Canada. This is your opportunity to bring senior‑level permitting expertise to some of Canada’s most complex and high‑profile mining projects. As a Senior Mine Permitting Specialist within our Mine Water & Environment – Mining & Environment (West) team, your work will directly influence how mining projects are permitted, designed, advanced, and responsibly closed—particularly across British Columbia and Western Canada. Working within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will act as a trusted technical advisor, partnering with engineers, scientists, and project leaders to integrate regulatory requirements into practical, defensible project solutions. This role is well suited to an experienced permitting qualified who thrives on problem‑solving, enjoys hands‑on technical leadership, and values mentoring the next generation of practitioners. Flexible work locations are available across Canada, with a focus on BC‑based projects.

Your Impact

- Lead and deliver environmental permitting strategies across the full mining lifecycle—from exploration and development through operations, expansions, and closure.
- Prepare, manage, and technically review complex regulatory submissions, including Environmental Assessments, BC Mines Act permits and amendments and Environmental permit applications.
- Develop clear permitting roadmaps that align regulatory requirements with project schedules, design decisions, and risk management objectives.
- Act as a key connector between engineering and environmental teams to ensure approvals are embedded into project design and execution.




- Coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs (water, geochemistry, atmospheric, closure, and more) to support robust permitting deliverables.
- Engage directly with clients, regulators, and Indigenous communities, supporting consultation processes and responses to regulatory information requests.
- Provide senior technical oversight, quality assurance, and mentorship to earlier career permitting professionals.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of permitting tools, templates, and best practices across the Mine Water & Environment team.

The Skills That Set You Apart

- A university degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of progressive experience delivering environmental and mining permits for complex projects in Canada.
- Demonstrated leadership on mine permitting applications across multiple project stages.
- Strong working knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory frameworks within Western Canadian jurisdictions.
- Proven ability to advise clients on permitting pathways, regulatory risk, and approval strategies within multidisciplinary project environments.
- Experience supporting regulator and Indigenous engagement as part of permitting and approval processes.
- A professional designation (P.Geo., P.Eng., RPBio., or equivalent)



is preferred.

Compensation

Compensation Range – Senior Level

- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $110,600 – $146,500
- MB & ON: $100,900 – $139,000
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $99,900 – $132,700

Compensation Range – Intermediate / Senior Level

- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $93,700 – $124,200
- MB & ON: $85,500 – $117,800
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $84,700 – $112,400

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The wage range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
