Job Overview

We’re looking for a full‑time, experienced group insurance specialist with robust attention to detail and expertise in data and process management to support the administration of the group life insurance plan. The specialist will also be cross‑trained to perform pension analyst duties when required.

Responsibilities

- Process insurance claims (life, dependents, AD&D;) including data validation, document review, and communication with the insurance carrier.
- Process applications for waiver of insurance premiums, communicating with members and the carrier for review/adjudication.
- Respond to insurance inquiries about eligibility, beneficiary or coverage changes, claims and related matters.
- Complete annual review of insurance data files and reconcile premiums.
- Prepare insurance data required for actuarial valuations and experience studies.
- Maintain insurance‑related procedures and forms.
- Collaborate with other CSSB departments to deliver insurance administration to members.
- Support system updates, enhancements, and testing of in‑house insurance tools.
- Perform pension‑related duties such as preparing pension statements, determining entitlements for members upon events (e.g., termination, retirement), reviewing and validating member data, processing elections, and calculating Pension Adjustment Reversals (PARs).

Qualifications

Essential skills and qualifications

- Post‑secondary degree or diploma.




- At least 5 years of group insurance administration experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Experience handling highly confidential and sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of delivering accurate, high‑quality work in a risk‑aware environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability and willingness to learn in‑house administration systems.

Nice to have

- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation.
- Working knowledge of the Public Service Group Insurance Fund.
- Experience delivering defined‑benefit pension administration services.

Work Schedule
