Job Overview
Location is flexible with a preference for Vancouver. The role focuses on providing expertise on tax planning concepts and strategies, with a specific emphasis on Canada/US cross‑border taxation concerns.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a consultative and collaborative value‑added approach in client conversations, acting as a member of a client strategy team to facilitate the desired client experience.
- Provide customized advice and specialized planning services to HNW/UHNW client high‑level executive segments.
- Facilitate and participate in a goals‑based discovery process directly with clients and ensure standards relative to data capture and plan creation are met thereafter to maintain effective knowledge management within the business/group.
- Apply well‑developed consultative sales and wealth planning principles, practices, and techniques in client interactions.
- Act as a subject matter expert in area(s) of specialized international wealth planning, including regulations and policies, to properly assess and provide insights and solutions to clients.
- Leverage financial analysis in the development of detailed and complex financial plans.
- Consult with clients and their external advisors on complex issues, as required.
- Provide commentary and awareness on emerging trends and new legislation through articles, case laws, and advanced international wealth planning solutions.
- Develop content in the area(s) of international wealth planning for use as training material, internal resource material, and client‑facing material.
- Lead or participate in the development/presentation of educational programs in international wealth planning within BMO and to clients.
- Develop and maintain internal and external networks and referral sources to ensure ongoing growth of the business.
- Maintain a network with industry contacts to gain competitive insights and best practices.
- Protect the Bank’s assets by adhering to all banking and investment regulations, Bank policies and procedures, legal and ethical requirements, process requirements, and established risk guidelines.
- Operate at a group/enterprise‑wide level and serve as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non‑routine.
- Implement changes in response to shifting trends.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in dealing directly and regularly with HNW/UHNW and high‑level executive clients.
- Post‑graduate degree is desirable.
- Relevant professional designation is an asset.
- Proven track record in developing and growing a profitable financial or related client services business.
- Extensive knowledge and technical proficiency related to international wealth planning strategies, issues, and trends.
- Seasoned professional with a combination of pertinent education, experience, and industry knowledge.
- Typically, a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and a university degree in a relevant field of study.

Salary & Advantages
Salary range: $135,000 – $185,000. Pay type: Salaried. Salaries may vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles are pro‑rated based on hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO’s expected target for the first year in this position.
