Data Analytics Senior Analyst must demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, analytical and problem‑solving abilities, hands‑on intelligence or data analysis skills, and intellectual curiosity. The candidate should understand data science methods, and visualization techniques to leverage internal and external data to identify and develop ways to systemically detect inefficiencies and gaps. The incumbent is required to engage and work with global and regional business, operations, and internal/external technology partners to deliver.

Responsibilities

Applies in‑depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflows for the product or function

Demonstrates an ability to apply curiosity and critical thinking in data mining and analytics to drive optimization and improve data quality

Conducts strategic data analysis across relational databases, identifies insights & implications to make strategic recommendations, and develops data displays that clearly communicate complex analysis

Understands the global implications & applicability of the recommendations and effectively communicates them to stakeholders

Collaborates with business partners to analyze complex system issues/problems through in‑depth evaluation of business processes, systems and industry standards; designs new workflows to transform business requirements into concrete insights

Programs new transformations, mappings, workflows and loading procedures using ETL technologies to implement business rules with best practices to achieve high performance

Documents and references key facts uncovered during the research and analysis process

Leads the systems change process from requirements through implementation; provides user and operational support of applications to business users





Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives for complex projects through research and fact‑finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry standards

Participates in the development, testing, and training of current or enhanced tactical solutions or strategic system applications

Significantly influences decisions, work, and performance of the team through advice, counsel and/or facilitating skills

Supervises day‑to‑day staff management issues, including resource management, work allocation, mentoring/coaching and other duties and functions as assigned

Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency

Qualifications

5‑8 years Data analysis experience using tools and techniques for modeling of large data sets

Ability to effectively use complex analytical, interpretive and problem‑solving techniques

Extensive experience working in Waterfall and Agile project methodologies; using JIRA

Advanced to Intermediate SQL skills querying relational databases

Experience with process and data modelling (UML) and knowledge of ETL

Proven interpersonal, diplomatic, management and prioritization skills

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) with extensive experience using Excel for data analysis

Experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle





Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and analyze large sets of complex data, draw meaningful conclusions and make recommendations based on analysis

Clear understanding of Data Structures and Object‑Oriented Principles using Java

Hands‑on experience with the Apache Spark framework using its Java API for large‑scale data processing, including proficiency with RDDs, DataFrames, Datasets, and the use of Spark SQL for querying structured data

Experience with software engineering best practices (unit testing, automation, design patterns, peer review, etc.) and cloud‑native development and container orchestration tools (Serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.)

Exposure to architecture experience in building horizontally scalable, highly available, highly resilient, and low‑latency applications

Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision

Good to have knowledge of Kubernetes and OpenShift

Ability to work independently and in a team

Knowledge of reporting tools such as Cognos or Tableau is a plus

Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education

Bachelor’s degree, university degree or equivalent experience
