The Director, Conference is responsible for overseeing all tactical and logistical elements of the conference and competition. Other duties include assisting the Chair in the procurement of suitable venue(s) for NSCC related affairs, any promotional logistics, and miscellaneous tasks as they arise. The Director, Conference will also oversee an Associate, Conference to assist with tasks.

April-August: 15-20 hours per week

September-October: 10-15 hours per week

November (pre-conference): 10-15 hours per week

April 2026 – February 2027

Main Responsibilities

- Develop a high-level overview plan of conference logistics
- Create personalized event run-sheets for attendees, competitors, delegates, and NSCC team
- Plan and execute pre-conference workshops in collaboration with Associate, Conference
- Support Co-Chair, Conference in organizing venue and AV contracts for all components of pre-conference workshops, conference, and competition (i.e. delegate socials, networking events, and conference rooms)
- Coordinate with third parties to secure transportation, food, equipment, and other required items for the conference, competition, and all programming leading up to the main event
- Delegate tasks to Associate,



Conference to complete main responsibilities
- Help organize NSCC’s pre-competition events (Consulting 101, Ace the Case, etc)
- Facilitate communications with entire NSCC team regarding event day-of logistics
- Collaborate cross-functionally regularly to ensure vision alignment with other NSCC departments

Qualifications

- Excellent written and verbal qualified communication skills
- Familiar with big-picture thinking and comfortable with delegating tasks
- Able to multitask and prioritize management of project timelines appropriately
- Previous experience or exposure to event logistic planning and risk management
- Ability to prepare for and adapt to changing circumstances/unforeseen situations
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an exemplary attention to detail
- Ability to work cross functionally and collaboratively in a team setting
- Proficient with Microsoft and Google tools

Anticipated Learning Outcomes

- Experience planning large scale skilled events from start to finish
- Solid understanding of project management and event planning
- Develop abilities in leadership, communication and effective delegation
- Knowledge and experience in drafting and editing professional documents
- Crisis management and preparing for the unexpected
