Our dynamic Geomatics team is looking for a SurveyCrewChief in Mississauga, ON . The successful candidate is organized, highly collaborative, and possesses strong communication skills with an infectious positivity that impacts and motivates all team members.
Responsibilities
- Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants.
- Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
- Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
- Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
- Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
- Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
- Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.
- Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic).
- Experience with Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset.
- 6+ years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role.
- Strong problem‑solving skills in a field workplace.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.
- The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
- An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening as per the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.
Job Conditions
- Out‑of‑town work (possible shift work).
- Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Night shift may be required.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
