This position supports research, analysis, and the development of recommendations on physician compensation, health policy, and relevant economic issues; andassistsin liaising with the Ministry of Health and other agencies on matters related to physician compensation.

The Analyst contributes to projects and provides support to physiciangroupsand SMA committees focused on advancing the economic well-being of physicians in Saskatchewan. The position also provides guidance andassistanceto physiciansregardinginsured and uninsured services, billing inquiries, compensation programs, and policies.

This position is based on-site at our office in Saskatoon, SK, with a voluntary hybrid workoptionallowingremote work from home up to2out of 5 days per week subject to approval under our Hybrid Work Arrangement policy.

Key responsibilities include:

Develop andmaintaina strong working knowledge of the Physician Payment Schedule, including fee codes, prices, descriptions, assessment rules, and related policies,

Provide guidance andassistanceto SMA membersregardingeconomic questions or concerns related to the Payment Schedule, Fee Guide for Uninsured Services, and compensation programs,

Support physician groups (i.e. SMA Sections, SMA Working Groups) and SMA committees (i.e., Tariff, Uninsured Services, Economics Committee, and Intersectional Council) on economic issues byassistingwith synthesizing information, preparing presentations,



translating knowledge, distributing materials, and summarizing internal or external discussions with stakeholders,

Conduct research and analysis, including literature reviews, environmental, and jurisdictional scans on topics such as collective bargaining, policy development, physician resources, payment schedule(s), fee codes, and fee-for-service cost/utilization,

Support the operations of entitlement requests and compensation programs, including but not limited to Critical Condition Valuable Faith Coverage, After-Hours Urgent Care Clinic Program, Family Physician Comprehensive Care Program, and Transitional Payment Model,

Assistin liaising with physicians, other provincial and territorial medical associations, the Ministry of Health, Saskatchewan Health Authority, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, Workers Compensation Board, and other 3rdparty agencies (e.g.SGI, etc.) on matters related to physician compensation,

Complete other tasks assigned by the Team Lead, Economics.

Qualifications:

Postgraduate degree (e.g., master’s) in economics, public health, business administration, or a related discipline, OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience - with a minimum of two years of demonstratedexperience in health economics, public health, or related health sector fields.

$70,298 - $95,109 per annum commensurate with experience.
