Job Details

Position Title: Placement Advisor - Appendix D

Status: Full Time/Contract

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Faculty/Department: Faculty of Social and Community Services

Campus/Location: Lakeshore Campus; Hybrid - 4 days on campus, 1 day remote

Salary: Payband: H

Salary Range: $37.34 - $43.18

Starting Salary: $37.34

Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outlined in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.

About The Placement Advisor Role

Reporting to the Manager, Work Integrated Learning, the Placement Advisor is a proactive team member in the Faculty of Social and Community Services. The successful candidate will connect field experience opportunities for students, liaise with internship hosts, seminar instructors and students, and manage a database of placement-related information.



The Placement Advisor also handles administrative functions related to Work-Integrated Learning and Experiential Learning, including regularly connecting with students and providing support, resources, and information in preparing for field experience. The Placement Advisor will uphold the FSCS values of compassion, integrity, respect, self-awareness, and inclusion in all interactions with students and external and internal stakeholders.

Education

- Four (4) year degree or equivalent

Experience / Skills

What you bring to the role:

- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: human resources, counselling, recruitment or employment services, which demonstrates exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, exercise good judgment, work with interruptions, and resolve conflicts
- Must be able to strategize in how to guide students, research new employment opportunities, create marketing materials, liaise between employers and students and plan placement networking events
