HIRING: Sr. Digital Fundraising Strategist at BuildGood | A fundraising growth team that helps nonprofits build a multi-channel, metrics-based…
Position Type: Full-time, permanent
Reports To: Managing Director
Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 CAD annually
About Us
BuildGood is a fundraising growth agency. We help nonprofits who have a bold vision for meaningful growth develop and execute a multi-channel, metrics-based approach to sustainably grow revenue from new and current donors.
We’re a teaching hospital. Great hospitals do two things: 1) they look after patients, and 2) they teach young doctors. We look after clients with our agency for nonprofits who want to grow, and we teach everything we’re learning through our podcast, the Build Good Summit, and various events throughout the year.
About You
You’re an experienced digital fundraiser with a growth mindset, a bias for action, and a burning curiosity about what works in digital fundraising—from email and SMS to landing page optimization and paid Meta/Google/LinkedIn ads.
Is this job right for you?
Are you positively giddy at the prospect of testing what works best in digital fundraising for a variety of clients, from hospital foundations to international development orgs?
Do you get excited about optimizing donor journeys, analyzing campaign performance, and brainstorming creative ways to acquire and retain donors online? Do you love digging into the data to find insights that drive real revenue growth?
Do you want to be the go-to digital expert for clients while working with a creative and supportive team?
And do you want to become the best at your craft?
Then this job might be for you.
You’ll thrive in this job if you’re a strategist who rolls up their sleeves, loves solving problems, can manage multiple deadlines at once, and gets energized by seeing donors respond to well-crafted digital campaigns.
What you’ll do
The main job: You’ll grow the digital fundraising results of 6-8 clients by developing and executing digital strategies, testing roadmaps, and full-funnel donor journeys across email, paid ads, SMS, landing pages, and other digital channels.
Generally speaking: You’ll be the primary digital strategist for a roster of clients, working closely with the creative services team and project management team to bring campaigns to life.
Your main responsibilities as it relates to your clients
- You’ll be part of the sales process for key clients, presenting digital strategies and recommendations
- You’ll help develop and implement Total Fundraising Reviews with a focus on digital channel performance
- You’ll create digital growth plans with each of your clients (adjusted yearly) and testing roadmaps (adjusted quarterly)
- You’ll lead regular digital strategy meetings with each client
- You’ll develop full-funnel donor journeys: from lead generation and conversion to stewardship and reactivation
- For each digital campaign, you’ll create the strategic brief, work with the creative services team to develop the creative, and manage client approvals
- You’ll oversee email, SMS, and app notification marketing strategy, including calendar planning, segmentation, and optimization
- You’ll collaborate on paid media strategies (Facebook, Instagram, Google Ads, etc.) to acquire, convert, and retain donors
- You’ll guide the creation of campaign landing pages, donation forms, and digital experiences that convert
- You’ll monitor KPIs across platforms (CTR, CVR, ROAS, CPL, donor retention, etc.) and lead data-informed decision-making
- You’ll recommend A/B tests, CRO experiments, and donor journey improvements based on campaign performance
- You’ll prepare and present digital performance reviews with each client, translating data into actionable insights
- You’ll identify key upsell opportunities for each client throughout the year to help them grow their digital revenue
- You’ll support contract renewals for each client
Your main responsibilities as it relates to improving the business
- You will be expected to help improve the business by creating and updating systems, processes, SOPs (standard operating procedures) and trainings. This is a shared responsibility by everyone on the BuildGood team.
- You’ll bring insights from testing and optimization to help shape best practices across the agency
- You’ll stay current on digital fundraising trends, tools, and platforms, sharing knowledge with the team
You’ll have full support from the BuildGood creative services and project management teams to help you and your clients succeed.
This job is not a good fit for you if
- You don’t like the prospect of working for a growing business with a highly entrepreneurial culture where things evolve quickly
- You want every day to be predictable, and you thrive on as little change as possible
- You prefer purely strategic work and don’t enjoy getting hands‑on with campaign execution and platform management
- You prefer following a rigid playbook instead of helping build the playbook
- You see feedback as criticism rather than as fuel for growth
- You want a job where you only execute what’s asked, instead of shaping the strategy, bringing ideas, and improving systems along the way
- You don’t enjoy learning new tools, testing recent ideas, or adapting when the digital landscape shifts.
You’ll be expected to have
- An innate desire and curiosity to lead more people toward greater generosity by understanding donor behavior through both qualitative and quantitative data
- 3-5 years experience in digital fundraising or digital marketing, preferably in an agency or consultancy setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, since you’ll be a communicator for a roster of clients and BuildGood
- Proven experience designing and optimizing email, paid ad, SMS, and landing page funnels
- Experience using platforms like MailChimp (or similar email platforms), Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and Google Analytics (GA4)
- Comfortable with Google Tag Manager, UTM tracking, and conversion tracking (you’ll have tech support, but you’ll need to have a good understanding)
- Proficiency in Gsuite (google docs, sheets, etc.) and Excel (filters, pivots, basic formulas)
- Proficiency in Teamwork or similar project management systems
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze campaign data and develop practical, actionable recommendations
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple client campaigns and deadlines simultaneously
- A test-and-learn mindset: forming hypotheses, reading results, and making quick decisions to optimize performance
- High level of integrity

- Since we’re all remote, we work in CST time
