Our professional engineers and scientists provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including industry, government, architecture, transportation, and land‑use planning. We offer a full suite of services including design and permitting, monitoring programs, predictive modeling, as well as planning and policy studies.Your Opportunity We have an immediate opening for a Senior Atmospheric Engineer to join our team in either our Burnaby, Victoria, Sidney, Kelowna, or Kamloops office. Remote work options are available for eligible candidates that reside outside of those British Columbia locations.Your Key ResponsibilitiesManaging projects; including budget control, effective task delegation, client and contractor interface, final reporting etc.Conducting technical analysis, modeling, and measurementProviding direction, mentorship, and support to junior staff in areas of your expertiseGrowing the atmospheric environment service area, including technical expertise, business development,
and client supportCollaborate with the National Atmospheric Sciences Team to leverage expertise from other offices and foster an efficient national team presenceYour Capabilities and CredentialsAble to work independently with minimal supervision and in a multi‑disciplinary teamExperience in providing supervision and mentorship to junior staffDemonstrated ability to obtain new clienteleExcellent interpersonal skills including both oral and written presentation skillsExperience with managing medium to large projects in a fast paced consulting environmentProven experience in successfully dealing with regulatory agencies on behalf of clientsLeading and preparing high‑quality air quality assessment reports for permits and environmental assessments for projects in the mining and oil and gas sectorsExperience evaluating air pollution control measures, developing air quality management plans and compliance strategies would be an assetAir emissions quantification, management and reporting experience and/or familiarity with design and execution of air quality and/or meteorology monitoring programsAdvanced air quality modelling knowledge for AERMOD and CALPUFF. Experience with MM5 and WRF meteorological models.Numerical analysis skills, including programming and troubleshooting (i.E.,
UNIX/LINUX)A valid driver’s license is requiredEducation and Experience Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience working with key aspects of Atmospheric Science with a focus on air quality engineering.Possess Professional Engineering registration (P.Eng.) or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date is required.Post‑graduate degree in engineering, physics or relevant science is preferred.Robust understanding of air quality regulatory requirements and guidelines for British Columbia and Canada.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining stationary at a workstation for long periods of time. Field work may include work in remote environments, challenging terrain, and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. - Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$105,400.00 - $158,100.00 Annually
- Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$111,700.00 - $167,600.00 AnnuallyPay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
