Wabun TribalCouncil is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Human ResourceManager. Under the direction of theExecutive Director, the Human Resource Manager will develop and provide humanresource programs to Wabun and the sixmember First Nations Communities of Matachewan, Mattagami, Brunswick House,Chapleau Ojibwe, Flying Post and Beaver House First Nation.
PositionSummary
The HR Managersupports the development, implementation, and coordination of human resourcesfunctions for Wabun Tribal Council and the six member First Nationscommunities. This role provides guidance and support in areas such asrecruitment, employee relations, policy development, performance management,and compliance with applicable legislation and organizational policies.
The HR Managerworks collaboratively with leadership, management, and communityrepresentatives to ensure culturally appropriate, equitable, and effective HRpractices that align with organizational values and community priorities.

KeyResponsibilities / Job Duties
HumanResources Support
- Provideday-to-day HR support to Wabun Tribal Council and member communities.
- Assist withrecruitment processes including job postings, screening, interviews, andonboarding.
- Supportemployee orientation and training initiatives.
EmployeeRelations
- Provideguidance on employee relations issues, including conflict resolution andworkplace concerns.
- Supportperformance management processes, including reviews and improvement plans.
- Promote arespectful and inclusive workplace culture.
Policy &Compliance;
- Develop, implement, and review of HR policiesand procedures.
- Ensurecompliance with applicable employment legislation and organizational policies.
- Maintainaccurate and confidential employee records.
- Provide HRadvice and support to managers and leadership.
- Supportworkforce planning and organizational development initiatives.
- Assist indeveloping culturally appropriate HR practices.
Training& Development
- Coordinateand support staff training and career development opportunities.
- Identifytraining needs in collaboration with leadership and community partners.
Travel &Community; Engagement
- Travel tomember First Nations communities as required.
- Buildrelationships and provide on-site HR support within communities.
Qualifications& Requirements
- Diploma orBachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or CertifiedIndigenous Human Resources.
- Experienceworking in Indigenous organizations or with First Nations communities isrequired.
- Knowledgeofrelevant employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Demonstratedexperience in a human resources role is preferred.
- Stronginterpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Abilitytohandle sensitive information with discretion.
- Validdriver’s license and willingness to travel to member communities as required.
WorkingConditions
- Office-basedwith regular travel to First Nations communities.
- May requireflexibility in working hours to accommodate community needs.
