What To Expect Consider before submitting an application: this position is expected to start August or September 2026 and continue through the fall term, ending approximately December 2026 or later, if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full‑time (40 hours per week) and on‑site, for most internships. The program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full‑time positions, not internships.

International students: if your work authorization is through CPT, consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on‑site. Many students will be limited to part‑time during the academic year.

Location: Ontario, Canada

We seek highly motivated, hands‑on engineering students for a mechanical design position in the Manufacturing Test Engineering group, part of Tesla’s "machine that builds the machine" initiative. The group focuses on creating robust, data‑centric production testing equipment for Tesla’s power electronic components in vehicle, stationary storage, humanoid robot and charging products.

What You’ll Do

Produce detailed-level CAD models and pneumatic diagrams, and create engineering drawings using GD&T; practices.

Verify designs using structural and thermal FEA and CFD, and perform tolerance stack‑up analysis.

Propose innovative solutions for equipment design at the part and assembly level.

Support building, debugging, validation, and duplication efforts, and fine‑tune equipment for release to production.

Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery to ensure robustness and quality.

Perform on‑site and off‑site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of test equipment.

What You’ll Bring

Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Hands‑on skills with tools, instruments, and measurement techniques.

Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.

Familiarity with various part fabrication techniques (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, 3D printing).

Preference for candidates with a portfolio showcasing professional and personal projects such as FSAE, BAJA, robotic competitions, and similar.

Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.

Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
