Job Description
The Production Support Specialist will have responsibility for managing Production Deliverables. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. They will lead efforts & to efficiently execute Ship Repair Production milestones throughout the project lifecycle. This position will lead 1-2 administrative direct reports intermittently as assigned from the Production Director.
Responsibilities
- Provide departmental oversight to track and close inspection actions (ITPs) and manage OQE coordinators, ensuring inspection deliverables meet Canada requirements.
- Facilitate weekly production and customer meetings to ensure progress, OQE, and deliverables remain on target.
- Monitor, analyze, and report daily production KPIs; identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Co‑facilitate the Plan of the Day and manage production questions related to safety and compliance.
- Deliver and manage the production leadership onboarding program aligned to business objectives (OKRs).
- Operate within approved workforce plans while prioritizing critical schedule milestones.
- Collaborate with management teams on assigned projects to ensure successful execution.
- Ensure safe operation of people and assets while driving continuous improvement and system enablement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in planning, scheduling, Data Management, continuous improvement or project management.
- University degree would be an asset or an abundance of job level experience in tandem with a technical diploma and / or designation (Shipyard experience is an asset).
- PMP (Project management qualified) Certification or equivalent, Lean six sigma certification,
Training in management methodologies, i.e., Prosci, considered and asset.
- Working knowledge of project management tools and concepts (Primavera, EVM, Excel, Microsoft Office).
- Experience with planning, scheduling, continuous improvement, and change management.
- Technical familiarity with industrial marine new construction and repair environments.
- Strong risk management, analytical, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Proven leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to facilitate teamwork and resolve conflict.
- Flexibility to travel between sites, support off‑shift operations, and adapt to tight schedules.
Additional Requirements
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full‑time, in‑office presence.
