Position Overview The Financial Aid Officer plays a critical role in supporting students in their pursuit of education by providing financial assistance, guidance, and resources. This position involves administering a variety of financial aid programs, assisting students through the application process, and ensuring compliance with institutional, government, and agency regulations. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, compassionate, and dedicated to helping students achieve their educational goals. Key Responsibilities Assess students and families financial circumstances, advising on aid options, eligibility, and application processes. Provide ongoing support to students and families through phone, email, and in‑person consultations regarding financial aid, admissions, and registration. Review and assess financial aid applications, applying professional judgment to determine eligibility and adjustments when necessary. Serve as a primary point of contact for financial inquiries, liaising between students, internal departments, government agencies, and financial institutions. Maintain accurate and confidential student financial records in compliance with policies and regulations. Provide academic advisement, referrals for crisis intervention,
and arrange tutorial support as needed to assist students holistically. Ensure fair and consistent enforcement of AOLCC financial aid policies and procedures. Support enrollment and retention initiatives by promoting financial aid as an accessible pathway to education. Qualifications & Requirements Post‑secondary education in Business, Finance, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Previous experience in the Private Career College sector or post‑secondary environment (asset). Strong customer service orientation with the ability to provide compassionate, student‑centered support. Experience working in rapid‑paced, high‑volume, and time‑sensitive business environments. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word required; experience with StudentInformation Systems or financial aid software an asset).
