Location: Oshawa, Ontario, Canada (Onsite)
Daily Schedule/Shift:
Rotating shifts - 1st shift (6:30am-2:30pm), 2nd shift (2:30pm-10pm), 2-week rotation. Candidates must be able to work on Saturdays.
Position Title: Production Supervisor - Automotive Manufacturing & Engineering

Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to supervise unionized automotive manufacturing workforce. The main function of a production supervisor is to supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers.
Key Responsibilities
Recommend measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency
Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems
Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, and maintenance to detect production problems
Hire, train, evaluate, and discharge staff,
and resolve personal grievances
Supervise production team members and support them in achieving business objectives
Manage daily and weekly tasks and scheduling of team members
Ensure team is making count and running efficiently
Facilitate coaching, training, and feedback to enhance the performance of Team Members and Team Leaders
Evaluate and adjust work plans to accomplish objectives
Coordinate manpower allocation and assignments
Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records
Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in the safety processes
Coordinate the development of pre-task plans prior to jobs to ensure all jobs are completed safely
Complete annual Employee Performance Evaluations
Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
Maintain frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
Create follow up details and communicate the Safety/Quality/Production related items during daily Shift Change meetings to understand the pain points
Respond to uptime-related issues
Attend Business Plan Deployment (BPD) meetings
Carry out weekly Safety Observation Tours (SOTs)
Maintain Task Instruction Sheets (TIS), Buffer Management, Bypass Management, Sealer Management, Quality Review Board Activities
Track and record scrap in your area and focus on mitigation and prevention procedures
Adopt and lead Global Manufacturing System processes to operate the business unit with continuous improvement
Qualifications Required Skills and Experiences
Over 2 years of experience in manufacturing sector, including at least one year of hands‑on leadership experience
Strong ability to showcase and develop relationships
Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills
Ability to coordinate, manage, address performance concerns, and lead people in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to solve complex problems and work in a rapid‑paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict and make decisions in ambiguous fast‑paced environment
Ability to ensure a safe industrial work environment
Able to work autonomously and independently with occasional guidance from leaders and peers
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models
Proficient in MS Office skills.
Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts
Preferred Skills and Experiences
Experience in automotive manufacturing plant
Experience in General Motors manufacturing facilities
Supervisor experience in a union environment
Education and Training
High school diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor degree in business or related field is preferred.
