The Faculty of Science at York University is seeking an innovative, internationally based researcher as a candidate for a Canada Impact+ Research Chair program in

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Epidemiology . The successful candidate will be nominated for the program, and contingent on being offered an Impact+ Chair, will also hold a tenured faculty position at York University in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. The Canada Impact+ Research Chair program is designed to support world-leading researchers whose work addresses critical national and global challenges. Impact+ nominees must be able to clearly demonstrate how their research translates into real-world applications, such as commercialization or policy (where relevant), with explicit social and economic benefits for Canada and the world. The successful candidate will lead an impactful research program that accelerates excellence in research and innovation while mentoring the next generation of highly qualified personnel. The Faculty of Science is strongly committed to inclusive research and teaching, and sees its diverse student body as a significant strength.

We seek a candidate with a proven record of engaging and developing talented trainees from a range of different backgrounds and ethnocultural identities. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research complements existing strengths within the Faculty of Science and in the broader university. We offer a collaborative research environment with established strengths in AI, data science, public health modelling, and policy-relevant research, including in a new Centre of Excellence in AI for Public Health Advancement (AIPHA). The Impact+ Chair would have access to high-performance computing infrastructure, secure data environments, and extensive national and international research networks. Eligible candidates must be currently working and residing outside of Canada at the time of nomination (expatriate Canadians are eligible) and hold qualifications commensurate with appointment at the rank of Full Professor, or Associate Professor with a clear trajectory to promotion to Full Professor within two years.
