About the Role Wenco's Fleet Management System is mission-critical software supporting mining operations worldwide. It runs in real time, integrates across hardware and enterprise systems, and continues to evolve as we modernize the platform.

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer who can work effectively in this environment. Someone who can maintain and improve an established system while driving better architecture, quality, and engineering practices.

This role suits someone who takes ownership, challenges assumptions, and delivers practical improvements, not just completed tasks.

What You'll Do

Take ownership of the system

Go beyond assigned work. Identify technical debt, propose improvements, and follow through. Leave the codebase better than you found it.





Evolve legacy systems responsibly

Understand existing architecture and improve it without disrupting critical operations. Know when to refactor and when to redesign.

Strengthen engineering practices

Contribute to code quality, reviews, and technical standards. Share knowledge within the team and across groups.

Communicate clearly

Write clear design documents and proposals. Explain complex topics in a way others can understand. Help move technical discussions forward.

Support modernization

Contribute to cloud adoption, CI/CD improvements, observability, and scalable architecture patterns.

Participate in the team’s on‑call rotation

Help respond to and resolve production incidents, and contribute to follow‑ups and preventative improvements.

Required Skills

Technical

Strong C++ and/or C# experience

Experience working with AWS or similar cloud platforms

Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code

CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Python for scripting and automation

Containerization and Kubernetes experience

Engineering approach

Strong problem solving and structured thinking skills

Comfort working with ambiguity and complex systems

Motivated to improve how things work,



not just apply band‑aid solutions

Effective in managing and modernizing legacy codebases

Capable of using AI tools to enhance productivity and improve quality

Communication

Excellent technical communication and documentation skills

Ability to present ideas to both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders

Collaborative mindset and ability to drive discussions and make decisions

Nice to Have

Experience with fleet management, mining, or industrial systems

Contributions to internal platforms or open source

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Eligible to work in Canada

Occasional international travel ( Base salary of $120,000 - $155,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
