Excelitas Technologies, a global technology leader with more than 7,500 employees, operates a FDA‑registered contract medical‑device manufacturing facility in Mississauga, Ontario. We are seeking a Plant Manager to oversee safe, compliant and efficient end‑to‑end manufacturing operations, including production, continuous improvement, cost control, quality assurance, maintenance, materials planning, and workforce development.
Main Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership – Own daily production performance (output, OEE, schedule adherence, first‑pass yield) and deliver against monthly/quarterly targets; lead the Supply Chain, Production, Quality and Mechanical Engineering teams.
- Safety, Compliance & Quality – Champion a safety‑first culture in compliance with Ontario’s OHSA and internal EHS policies; lead hazard assessments, corrective actions, and incident investigations.
- People Leadership – Coach and develop Operations Supervisors; set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
- Financial & KPI Ownership – Manage plant P&L; elements (labor, materials, scrap, maintenance, utilities); deliver against budget and cost‑per‑unit targets.
- Continuous Improvement – Lead Lean/CI initiatives (5S, value‑stream mapping, SMED, Kaizen, visual management, standard work).
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Leverage cross‑department expertise to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks, improve lead‑times, and support customer delivery commitments.
Qualifications
- 5‑10+ years of experience managing a high‑tech manufacturing facility.
- 5‑10 years of experience in customer service, service repair, global procurement, quality, warehousing, manufacturing engineering, or document control.
- Post‑secondary diploma in Engineering and/or Operations Management (required).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with MRP or equivalent Material Requirements Planning software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts or Theory of Constraints.
- Strong strategic planning, program implementation and evaluation, performance measurement, budgeting, and information systems skills.
- Solid knowledge of application legislation and health & safety requirements.
- Ability to prioritize multiple directives within changing work demands.
- Effective communication at all organizational levels.
- Conflict management and resolution skills.
- Supplier negotiation capabilities.
- Experience in an ISO9001, 14001, 13485 certified, and/or FDA QSR compliant environment is an asset.
