Part‑time Intermediate / High School Teacher/Tutor – Oxford Learning Scarborough Kingston Sheppard. The role requires teaching students in grades 8‑12 in math and science. Applicants have accurate curriculum knowledge and a passion for teaching.
Position Requirements
- Work hours: 3:00 pm‑8:00 pm after-school and evenings; some Saturdays 10:00 am‑3:00 pm.
- Commitment to end of term (June) preferred; summer extension is better.
- In‑person teaching only; must commute to Scarborough.
- Vulnerable sector screening mandatory.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
- Teaching certification an asset.
- Strong knowledge of current Grades 8‑12 math and science curriculum (Advanced Functions, Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Vectors, Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
Experience
- Teaching/tutoring math and science at grades 8‑12 (or equivalent).
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
- Robust math proficiency and ability to guide student understanding.
- Capability to manage up to three students simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to three students at a time at varying levels.
- Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Complete post‑lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
