Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Payments Subject Matter Expert to join a "Big Five" Canadian bank in Toronto for a high-impact, one-year transformation initiative. In this hybrid role, you will act as the bridge between complex business requirements and technical execution, driving the modernization of global and domestic payment rails.

Core Responsibilities

- Requirements & Strategy: Lead elicitation sessions to translate complex business needs into actionable technical specs, user stories, and acceptance criteria within an Agile framework.
- Technical SME: Act as the primary authority on ISO 20022 standards, managing message mapping (pacs, pain, camt ) and validation logic.
- Engine Integration: Drive the configuration and design of payment engines, specifically Finastra Global PAYplus (GPP) , ensuring seamless integration with existing banking infrastructure.
- End-to-End Delivery: Support the full project trajectory from initial design and SIT/UAT testing to final deployment and post-go-live stabilization.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Coordinate between business units, IT engineering teams, and external vendors to resolve blockers and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Documentation & Mapping: Develop high-quality process flows, data models, and operational procedures to maintain a robust Agile backlog.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate combines deep domain expertise with technical implementation experience:





- Payment Rail Expertise: Proven track record working with Lynx (Canada), SWIFT (CBPR+) , and Fedwire .
- Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with Finastra GPP (design or configuration) is highly preferred.
- ISO 20022 Mastery: In-depth knowledge of ISO 20022 messaging formats, including mapping and validations.
- Techno-Functional Fluency: Ability to navigate both the business processing lifecycle (clearing, settlement, reconciliation) and the technical architecture supporting it.
- Agile Proficiency: Extensive experience managing backlogs, writing detailed user stories, and participating in sprint ceremonies.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to manage senior stakeholders and explain technical constraints to non-technical partners.
