Manager and Team Lead, Third Party Residential Underwriting - BMBE Reporting To: Assistant Vice President, Third Party Residential Underwriting

Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Salary Range: $76,923 – $123,077
Office Location Toronto, ON (16.7, steps away from main public transit station)

The Opportunity The Third Party Residential Underwriting Division provides underwriting expertise and services on behalf of other financial institutions to the Canadian Mortgage Broker channel. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Third Party Residential Underwriting – BMBE, the Manager manages a team of Mortgage Underwriters, Associate Mortgage Underwriters, and Mortgage Funders. Under their guidance the team assesses mortgage applications, adheres to underwriting policies and guidelines, reviews required documentation, and manages closing and advancing funds on approved applications, maintaining a consistent focus on service excellence.
How You Will Contribute
Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers.
Maintain relationships with external partners such as mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors.
Generate new business opportunities through existing referral sources to help achieve company sales targets.
Make lending decisions within established limits while ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines.
Complete management reporting as required.
Stay current with latest industry knowledge, competition, and market trends.
Manage the capacity of the team through efficient delegation and careful monitoring of workflow volumes.
Manage the performance of team members through ongoing feedback and coaching.
Establish performance and work standards.
Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard new employees as required.
Provide coaching, training, support and development to team members.
Lead team meetings and conduct annual performance reviews.
Adhere to policies and procedures to ensure AML requirements are met, when applicable.

The Experience You Need
Post‑secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferred.
3–5 years previous mortgage underwriting experience required.
2 or more years people management experience.
Completion of Mortgage Agent Course and/or FSCO License an asset.
