The opportunity Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O;) Technical Architect EY Canada is seeking an experienced D365 F&O; Technical Architect to join our growing Microsoft Dynamics 365 team. Our Microsoft solutions group extends from advisory and planning to design and architecture, implementation, training, and business adoption. With our extensive network of industry experts working across four service lines, EY is uniquely positioned as a leader in helping our clients capitalize on increasing customer and data‑centric digital transformation strategies.

The Role & Responsibilities The Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O; Technical Architect play a key role in delivering complex F&O; projects for large enterprise clients. This expert will be at the forefront of architecting, developing, and deploying robust Dynamics 365 solutions.

Technical Architecture & Design

Own and define the end‑to‑end technical architecture for D365 F&O; implementations

Design scalable and secure solutions aligned with Microsoft best practices and client enterprise architecture

Define extension strategies, customization approaches, and integration patterns within D365 F&O;

Implementation & Delivery

Lead technical design workshops and architecture sessions with clients and internal teams

Translate functional and business requirements into technical specifications

Oversee development activities including X++ extensions, integrations, and data migration

Ensure adherence to D365 F&O; ALM standards, deployment strategies, and release management

Support system integration with Azure, Power Platform, Dataverse, and third‑party applications

Integration, Data & Performance

Design and implement integrations using OData, REST/SOAP services, Business Events, Dual‑Write, and middleware

Perform performance tuning and optimization using tools such as LCS, Trace Parser, and Azure monitoring

Ensure security design, environment management, and compliance with enterprise standards

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams

Collaborate closely with Functional Architects, Project Managers, and business stakeholders

Participate in presales activities including solution design, estimations, RFP responses, and proposals

Act as a technical advisor to clients throughout the project lifecycle

Required Experience and Qualifications:

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O;, particularly in a consulting or systems integrator environment.

Certifications:

Up‑to‑date Microsoft certifications relevant to D365 F&O;, such as the Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365: Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert.





Technical Proficiency:

Strong knowledge of X++, Life Cycle Services (LCS), and Azure DevOps, including source control, gated check‑ins, and pipelines.

Azure Expertise: Advanced knowledge of the Azure cloud platform, including experience in designing technical architectures encompassing servers, networking, backup, and security for enterprise‑level deployments.

Development Best Practices:

A solid understanding of best practices, including code management (e.g., source control), unit testing methodologies, and build processes.

Integration Experience:

Experience with interfaces (SOAP, REST, custom services) and data migration (Data entities) in line with D365 F&O; data handling processes.

Microsoft Certifications

Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate

Ideally, you will also have

DevOps Principles: Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.

Testing Knowledge: Familiarity with Automatic Testing Language (ATL) is considered an asset.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive working relationships across the organization.

Adaptability: Resilience and the ability to work in a rapidly changing workplace.

Independence: A high sense of ownership and competence to work independently.

Language and Communication Skills

Fluent in English with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to a non‑technical audience.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with a record of effective client engagements and managing stakeholder relationships.

Analytical Skills

Advanced analytical skills with the ability to dissect complex technical problems and create strategic solutions.

Proficiency in business process modeling and a thorough understanding of ERP data and integration platforms.

Technical Proficiency

Experience with D365 modules such as Finance and Supply Chain Management.

Development Skills

Proficiency in the X++ programming language for customization and extension of D365 F&O.;

Familiarity with .NET development, C#, and web services (REST/SOAP) for integration purposes.

Integration Technologies

Experience with integration tools and technologies such as Microsoft Power Platform, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, and Data Lake.

Knowledge of APIs and data integration patterns.

Database Management

Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, including database design, performance tuning, and query optimization.

Understanding of data migration strategies and tools.

Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure DevOps, Azure Functions,



and Azure Storage.

Experience with cloud‑based architecture and deployment strategies.

DevOps Practices

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).

Experience with automated testing and deployment processes.

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.

London/Waterloo/Ottawa: $136,000 to $180,000
