The Human Resources Generalist supports the day‑to‑day delivery of HR services at Hospice Niagara. This role contributes to a positive employee experience by coordinating HR operations, supporting recruitment and onboarding, administering payroll and benefits, and assisting with employee and labour relations processes.
The HR Generalist plays a key role in ensuring HR practices are compliant, efficient, and aligned with organizational values, including equity and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Process payroll updates including employee changes, leaves, and pay adjustments
- Administer perks, leaves of absence, WSIB claims, and return‑to‑work plans
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance
- Support onboarding and orientation of new hires
- Promote equitable, barrier‑free recruitment practices
Employee & Labour Relations Support
- Act as first point of contact for employee inquiries
- Support interpretation of policies and collective agreements
- Track grievances and assist with labour relations documentation
- Escalate complex matters to HR leadership
HR Programs & Culture
- Support employee wellness and engagement initiatives
- Assist with equity, diversity, and inclusion programs
- Contribute to HR communications and process improvements
Qualifications
- 3–5 years HR experience
- CHRP designation required (or in progress)
- Experience in a unionised environment required
- Payroll experience required (ADP Workforce Now an asset)
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation
- Bilingual (French/English) strongly preferred
