As a Chief Developer in the Securities Lending team at National Bank, you’ll be responsible for development and maintenance of systems at National Bank Capital Group and its subsidiaries. The Senior Development position requires a self‑starting, problem‑solving, motivated individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast‑paced trading environment. This challenging role provides an opportunity to learn and apply business concepts with a technical foundation.
Your role:
Troubleshoot issues arising from the Securities Lending trading platform.
Update and develop Python, Java code and Unix Shell scripts.
Coordinate with multiple lines of business to ensure successful completion of project deliverables.
Respect deadlines and communicate progress to the business and technology management team.
Design, architect and integrate solutions with in‑house applications, vendor supplied software and external platforms.
Utilise AWS Cloud services and maintain proficiency with the bank’s standard tooling.
Analyse data and gather requirements for the purposes of defining business needs/functionality and developing flexible solutions.
Learn and understand financial concepts and trade flows specific to Securities Lending.
Your team:
You will be part of a team that provides application and business process development for Securities Lending. You will join an internal team of technical specialists who work primarily with the front office (traders) but also interact with the back office, other technology teams, and external vendors.
Prerequisites:
Possess solid analytical skills for complex problem solving.
Experience with Python, Java and Unix scripting.
Must be comfortable navigating and working in a Unix/Linux environment.
Knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes.
Working understanding of Cloud technologies.
Have interest working within the dynamic environment of Capital Markets.
