About the Hospital

Surrey Memorial Hospital is the largest of three regional hospitals in Fraser Health’s integrated network. It offers comprehensive acute care, including a 24/7 emergency department, cardiac and critical care, obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, psychiatry, surgical specialties, inpatient rehabilitation, and ambulatory care services. It serves patients from across Fraser Health and beyond.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Radiological Technology and the Site Coordinator, Medical Imaging, the Radiological Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures according to professional standards and a client‑ and family‑centered care model.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Perform general duty radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures in line with standard protocols.
2. Conduct requested examinations using appropriate equipment and maintain quality standards.
3. Record and manage patient data and imaging results in the RIS/PACS.
4. Explain procedures and provide instructions to patients.
5. Collect and document relevant clinical information for each examination.
6. Prepare contrast agents and maintain equipment and supplies.
7. Monitor patient safety and quality during procedures.
8. Contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
9. Perform equipment maintenance, quality control tests,



and coordinate repairs.
10. Handle clerical duties related to patient demographics, histories, and data entry.
11. Assist in training employees, students, and orientation programs.
12. Participate in research and special projects with the supervision of the department.
13. Engage in continuous quality improvement/LEAN activities using established methodologies.
14. Adhere to health and safety requirements and report unsafe situations promptly.
15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience

- Certification with the CAMRT.

Skills and Abilities

- Knowledge of safe work procedures and diagnostic radiographic equipment.
- Ability to perform radiographic examinations following departmental standards.
- Evidence‑based practice knowledge for the designated modality.
- Familiarity with organizational policies and procedures for safe work with equipment.
- Understanding of research processes and methodology.
- Proficiency with PACS and radiology information systems.
- Effective oral and written communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Operational competence with related equipment.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to set workload priorities in teamwork settings.
- CPR competency.
- Computer literacy and use of a client care information system.
- Physical ability to perform job duties.
