The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.**Job Description:****Qualifications:**Completed College Diploma or University Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent experience with specialized training in children’s issues.NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.**Expectations & Task LIST*** Arrive 15 – 20 minutes prior to shift commencement to receive verbal report and remain, when necessary,
in crisis situation* Read and initial daily log recordings as part of a team effort to coordinate the plan and progress of clients* Record in client file pertinent information concerning client plan and progress* Provide information and role modeling on parenting skills* Provide clothes and toys to children upon admission* Ensure client files are maintained in an ‘up to date’ requirement Conduct ‘Crisis Counselling’ to outside clients when necessary* Provide one-to-one and group counselling for children* Assist Intake Worker by covering Front Desk during breaks and peak periods by answering telephone and conducting pre-admission screening* Ensure referrals to Children’s Aid Society, Peel Children’s Centre are completed* Liaison with local Schools concerning the children’s progress* Liaison with outside Agencies/Groups concerning programming and/or children’s Activities* Conduct School Registration and Discharge Procedures for children Organize and/or conduct recreational and leisure activities for children* Enforce Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre Rules and Expectations on a consistent basis* Facilitate Groups for children and Life Skills Group as scheduled* conduct referral services to other professional agencies and/or services* Respond to ‘in house’ Crisis Situation in an appropriate manner* Provide support to Child Care Worker in Program Development* Provide support to Child Care Room Student Placements**Organizational Responsibilities*** Conduct ‘Information Sessions and Tour Facilities’ as scheduled* Participate in Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre Planning Sessions, Clinical Policy & Procedure Development, Client Information Package and Forms* Participate in Employee/Student Recruitment and Selection Process Represent Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre at ‘Public Speaking Engagements’, Community Groups and other areas as requested* Represent Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre at Peel Children’s Centre and Young Mothers Assessment Committee* Participate in organizing and conducting special events for clients Governed by The Salvation Army Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre Policy and Procedure Manual Governed by Violence Against Women Act* Understanding and willingness to uphold the moral and spiritual values and practices of The Salvation Army* Actively involved in Supervision with Supervisor Actively involved in on-going Professional Development* Attend Staff Meetings, Team Meetings and Staff Development Events Agree to and sign Client Confidentiality and Agency Confidentiality Statements Function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team* Adhere to and abide by the centre’s Health and Safety Regulations**Compensation:**Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
