Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Resource Geologist provides leadership and coordination for Gold Candle’s exploration projects. The responsibility for this role is for safe, efficient, technical evaluation and execution in the production of deposit scale to regional scale geological models and resource estimates using varied datasets. The Senior Resource Geologist will collaborate with the Gold Candle team and provide technical and supervisory leadership to the exploration project.
About Gold Candle
Gold Candle Limited (GCL) is a privately funded Canadian exploration company that is actively drilling and conducting exploration activities to evaluate gold mineralization present around the historic workings of the Kerr-Addison Mine, situated in McGarry Township located in Northern Ontario. Since 2015, Gold Candle has drilled over 130,000m on the property and extensive land position extending 6km along the Larder Lake Cadillac Break. Gold Candle successfully defined significant gold mineralization over the years. In 2025 Gold Candle released a multi-million ounce combined open pit and underground gold mineral resource estimate. In addition, Gold Candle recently released an initial mineral resource estimate on the newly discovered Geminid nickel deposit, validating the mineralized potential of the Company’s land position.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership including reviewing, developing and maintaining exploration best practice.
- Act as a Qualified Person in developing and maintaining resource estimates following 43-101 standards and CIM guidelines.
- Interpretation and analysis of geological and historical data.
- Support brownfield target generation to maximize resource conversion.
- Support the development of greenfield exploration programs that effectively test a portfolio of regional targets.
- Develop deposit scale exploration models.
- Participate in property evaluations within the district.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Lead in office safety meetings, toolbox talks and inspections, reinforcing Gold Candle’s HS&E; culture by example and accountability.
- Identify and address safety risks in real-time. Initiate hazard mitigation, support safe work planning and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Support environmental inspections, drill pad rehabilitation, spill prevention and compliance with permit terms and site-specific conditions.
- Participate in or lead incident investigations and root cause analyses during assigned shifts in coordination with the Senior Project Manager.
Coordination & Execution Support
- Coordinate with internal and external service providers to ensure deliverables of projects and schedules are aligned
- Identify operational risks and communicate clearly to leadership.
- Maintain site-level documentation and communicate updates to Gold Candle leadership.
Supervision & Mentorship
- Provide task-level coaching and mentorship to junior geologists and geologists in training (GITs).
- Collaborate with the Senior Exploration Manager on setting performance expectations and participating in evaluations.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new site staff.
Reporting & Communication
- Maintain clear documentation following exploration best practices.
- Support summary reporting for regulatory and internal use.
- Act as the communication bridge between site and Gold Candle leadership during assigned rotation ensuring continuity of decisions and documentation.
Geological Execution & Interpretation
- Oversee updates to geological models.
- Contribute to the review and maintenance of geological data quality.
- Generate resource estimates.
- Provide input on Leapfrog/Micromine modeling and target development.
- Contribute to technical summaries and support resource planning.
- Collaborate with the internal and external teams of geologists, engineers and technicians to assist in creating and maintaining the resource models and resource estimates.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Geology, Geological Engineering or Earth Sciences (required).
- P.Geo. designation in Ontario for a minimum of 5 years.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive mineral exploration or mine geology experience.
- Strong background in geological data collection and database management in an active diamond drilling environment and/or mining environment.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring junior geologists.
- Competence with geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Micromine, etc.), GIS tools and database platforms (e.g., GeoSpark or similar).
- Deep understanding of safe work practices, emergency response and familiarity with Ontario exploration regulatory compliance.
- Experience supporting or leading field incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel and project tracking tools is essential.
Schedule / Working Setting
- The role is site based, schedule to be determined.
