Supporting Aging Sisters in Scarborough (SASS)
Program Coordinator
Full time (35 hours per week)
May 2026 to May 4, 2029
Purpose of Position
The purpose of this position is coordinate and oversee a three-year project that will strengthen our organizational capacity to support marginalized senior women and individuals supporting them by:
· Coordinating a project team that will work collaboratively to implement and facilitate project activities in year one
· Organizing a series of in-person workshops specifically for senior women in Scarborough
· Organizing a series of in-person workshops and webinars for senior women and individuals supporting them that will be integrated into our General Education Program
· Organizing training opportunities for SWC staff and volunteers
· Creating and updating resources for senior women and individuals supporting them
· Building and tracking community partnerships that can support outreach and promotion of the project activities
· Exploring funding opportunities that can sustain the project activities once this project funding ends
Accountability
· Reports to the Program Manager, Scarborough Women’s Centre
Job Specifications
Project Coordination
· Coordinate a Project Team that will work collaboratively to implement and facilitate project activities in year one: facilitation and development of workshops, webinars, training sessions, and resources
· Continue to coordinate, implement, and monitor all aspects of the project in year two and three
In-Person Workshop Facilitation (for Senior Women)
Support the development and implementation of:
· An outreach strategy to promote a series of in-person workshops for senior women in Scarborough
· Materials to promote the in-person workshops and the project activities in the community at large
· A series of in-person workshops for senior women in Scarborough
· Updates to the workshop/webinar content as needed based on participant feedback, ongoing trends, and research
Workshop and Webinar Facilitation (for Senior Women and Individuals Supporting Them)
Support the development and implementation of:
· Updates to the workshop/webinar content so that it is tailored to individuals supporting senior women
· An outreach strategy to promote the series of in-person workshops and webinars for senior women and individuals supporting them
· Materials to promote the in-person workshops/webinars and project activities in the community at large
· A series of in-person workshops and webinars for senior women and individuals supporting them through our General Education Program
Staff/Volunteer Training Development & Facilitation
Support the development and implementation of:
· Surveys to identify staff and volunteer training needs
· Training resources (e.g., PowerPoints, recordings, handouts) that will be incorporated into our on-boarding process
· Updates to the training content as needed based on participant feedback, research, and emerging trends
Resource Development
Support the development and implementation of:
· Resources for senior women
· Resources for individuals supporting senior women
· Project learning and sharing in the community at large
Community Partnerships
· Oversee the consultation with community agencies serving seniors who can provide support with the SWC staff and volunteer training sessions
· Create and facilitate project presentations to community-based agencies who can support outreach and may be interested in partnership opportunities
· Track and monitor community partnerships established throughout the course of the project
Funding
· Explore funding sources, including fee for service options that will allow us to facilitate the workshops/webinars in the community beyond this project
· Identify third party locations in Scarborough/Toronto East potentially interested in our workshop/webinar series based on a fee for service and negotiate agreements in year three
Administration
· Work with community partners/third party locations to secure space to host the
in-person workshops for senior women and individuals supporting them
· Support and manage all logistics: including scheduling of the in-person workshops/webinars and SWC virtual training sessions; obtaining Presto tickets for senior women attending the in-person workshops; Securing attendant care for senior women with disabilities attending the in-person workshops; Obtaining light refreshments for the in-person workshops for senior women
· Support the development of evaluation tools that will be used to measure project outcomes and effectiveness of the project activities; Update the evaluation tools as needed throughout the project
· Collect and analyze feedback received from project participants
· Monitor and record project participant attendance, outcomes achieved, and any barriers to participation
· Maintain accurate files and records related to the project
· Participate in regular supervision meetings
· Attend staff meetings on a weekly basis
· Prepare agency and funder reports as required with support from the Program Manager
Qualifications
· Minimum 5 years related experience
· Eligible to work in Canada
· Post-secondary education in Social Work (BSW/MSW) or a related field, or equivalent experience
· Strong project management, facilitation, presentation/resource design, organization, written and communication skills
· Sensitive to and knowledge of women’s issues; the needs of senior women
· A self starter, who works well on own, and in a team
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Cisco Webex, CANVA, and Google Workspace
(e.g. Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Forms)
Working Conditions
· 35 hours per week until May 4, 2029
· $30 per hour, less applicable tax and deductions
· Eligibility for health plan following 3 months of employment
· This position involves a combination of virtual and on-site work and travel to locations within Scarborough
