Software Designer Location: Mississauga, Ontario. Position type: Full‑time onsite (Monday‑Friday, flexible hours).

Responsibilities

Create software requirements and develop the engine controls embedded software design by working closely with internal and external customers.

Perform peer reviews of requirements, design and code.

Perform and support formal and informal software verification as tester or reviewer.

Work closely with PWC control system department and other software suppliers for proper software implementation.

Support engine tests department and supplier’s closed‑loop bench test facilities to ensure smooth execution of system tests and software verification activities.

Support customer flight test activity.

Review and interpret test data produced during validation testing.

Provide continuous improvement to organizational processes based on lessons learned through implementation.

Contribute to certification activities and document preparation.

Qualifications

Degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science or Aerospace) and 3 to 15 years of experience in controls, avionics, or gas turbine engines. Experience with gas turbine, aircraft or automotive control systems and knowledge of dual‑channel FADEC is an asset.

Experience with aerospace software DO‑178C (required) and DO‑254 firmware (desirable).

Expertise in simulation and modeling (MATLAB or SCADE), controls theory, dynamic system analysis (time and frequency domain), gas turbine controls, leadership, and DO‑178C software verification.





Solid technical writing and requirements communication skills.

Demonstrated leadership ability, driving initiatives independently or collaboratively.

Good communication, teamwork, focus on results, strong analytical and systems thinking.

Commitment to continuous improvement and ability to propose standards‑compliant solutions.

Background in multiple engineering disciplines (control systems, operability, performance, software engineering, test engineering, software verification).

Salary range: 65,000 CAD – 107,800 CAD. Additional compensation may include short‑term and long‑term incentive programs, dependent on position level and collective‑bargaining agreements.
