Responsibilities
Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure.
Be responsible for accurate, timely and well‑organized pre‑construction estimate preparation for budget and guaranteed maximum price submissions as well as design build and stipulated price estimate submissions for major projects.
Develop scopes of work for subcontractors to provide budgeting assistance.
Analyze sub‑contractor bids for irregularities and ensure the full scope of work is included.
Organize sub‑contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re‑writing binders and assisting the buy‑out process.
Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub‑trades for future opportunities.
Identify and propose project risk and cost mitigation strategies as well as the potential for opportunities and cost savings.
Distribute sub‑trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price.
Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference.
Review drawings and tender documents to understand scope of work and submission requirements.
Effectively determine the bid strategies required on each project for the company to be successful.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Work closely with our operations, pre‑construction, and engineering teams to prepare accurate estimates.
Identify project‑specific HSEQ risks and propose mitigation plans for these items in the estimate.
Mentor and train junior Estimating staff.
Qualifications
8‑10 years of experience in ICI estimating or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
You have a construction related degree.
You have expertise in the Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) fields.
You demonstrate a competitive passion and high‑performance attitude.
You have an advanced knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts as well as conceptual estimating and unit costs.
You have the ability to work effectively and accurately in time‑sensitive situations while delegating to a team.
You have experience in distributing sub‑trade quotes, noting areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price.
The salary range for this job is $120,000 - $170,000 CAD.
