On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Data Architect. This role supports ongoing workload demands within a centralized data team. The Data Architect is responsible for the full spectrum of activities required to ensure the operational effectiveness, reliability, and continuous improvement of enterprise data services. Responsibilities include supporting data requirements analysis, solution design, implementation, and maintenance to ensure data needs are accurately captured, assessed, and aligned with appropriate tools and processes. The role enables complex data analysis, visualization, and reporting to support organizational decision‑making.

Responsibilities

Own the overall data architecture, including the continuous development, operation, and maintenance of data services and analytical tools.

Gather and analyze stakeholder requirements to design optimal data solutions that support long‑term compatibility, scalability, and maintainability.

Design and implement data products such as data models, dashboards, and visualizations that align with organizational objectives.

Apply standardization practices to integrate data from multiple sources into enterprise data environments, ensuring data integrity and interoperability.

Manage business intelligence dependencies, job scheduling, and release cycles for data products.

Monitor system performance and business usage to identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement.

Track and assess industry trends, emerging technologies, data services, standards, and architectural strategies.

Advocate for standardized analytics tools and methodologies across the organization.

Implement and oversee metadata management, including data source mapping,



data movement, and data quality controls.

Develop and enforce data governance and data security strategies in alignment with compliance requirements.

Collaborate closely with IT teams, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions support business needs.

Evaluate the impact of new business requirements on existing data architecture and recommend appropriate solutions.

Leverage cloud‑based data services for storage, integration, processing, and analytics as required.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Proven experience in a data‑focused role such as Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or equivalent.

Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based data and analytics platforms.

Strong knowledge of database architectures, data modeling, and data mining techniques.

Solid understanding of data administration and data management best practices.

Familiarity with modern data technologies and ETL tools.

Experience with data visualization and analytics platforms.

Proficiency in SQL and other relevant data languages.

Solid analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Security Clearance & Eligibility

Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum reliability‑level security clearance prior to commencing work.

Legal authorization to work in Canada.
