CPO’s will help further our vision byenhancing community perceptions of safety and increasing our capacity tocontinue to respond efficiently and effectively to calls for service.

LethbridgePolice Service CPOs are particularly unique in Alberta due to their enhancedauthority to initiate and conduct criminal investigations involving theft andmischief where the value of the property does not exceed five thousanddollars.Community Peace Officers employed throughout the Province ofAlberta are appointed under the Peace Officer Act. Within Lethbridge, CPOs areaccountable to the City of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Police Service and theProvincial Director of Law Enforcement to execute their assigned duties.

Reporting to the CommunityPeace Officer Sergeant, the role of a Community Peace Officer is to assist withpublic contact and support public safety within the community.
