Our client is a global, well‑capitalized mining company with a strong reputation for delivering complex, large‑scale capital projects. They are advancing a flagship greenfield gold development in Northern Ontario. Early studies are complete, detailed engineering is well underway, and the project is progressing through permitting, with construction targeted to commence in summer 2027.

This is a senior construction leadership role on a highly schedule‑driven project with very little margin for error. While the title will be Construction Manager (CM), the mandate is firmly Construction Director–level. The successful candidate will step directly into an established project organization and take ownership of surface infrastructure and process facilities construction, helping transition the project from engineering into full construction execution.

This role will initially be executed from a corporate project office, with flexibility for remote work in the near term, and will transition to a full‑time (or at least very heavy) site presence as construction approaches and ramps up.

What You’ll Do

Lead Construction Execution: Take end‑to‑end responsibility for construction delivery across surface infrastructure and process facilities, ensuring safety, schedule, cost, quality, and environmental performance meet owner standards.

Transition from Engineering to Construction: Lead the shift from detailed engineering into construction execution, driving site readiness, construction planning, and alignment across engineering, procurement, and project controls.

Build and Lead the Construction Team: Build out and lead your direct‑report construction organization within an established project team that already includes environmental, project controls, procurement, HR, and engineering functions.

Drive Schedule Discipline: Own construction scheduling and sequencing,

working closely with project controls and procurement to protect the critical path and deliver against a highly constrained schedule.

Manage Contractors as True Partners: Lead contractor performance in a non‑lump‑sum environment, working collaboratively to resolve issues early, manage risk proactively, and prevent disputes from escalating into claims or legal action.

Challenge Constructability: Engage actively with engineering teams and contractors to challenge assumptions, methods, and schedules. Ensure designs are buildable and execution plans are realistic.

Set the Construction Culture: Establish a strong site culture focused on safety, environmental stewardship, accountability, and teamwork, aligned with the owner’s way of working.

Executive Reporting: Provide clear, fact‑based reporting to senior leadership, communicating risks early and directly with a robust focus on schedule certainty and execution readiness.

What You’ll Bring

Construction Leadership Experience: 15+ years delivering large‑scale mining or heavy industrial construction projects, with senior responsibility at the Construction Manager, Construction Director, or equivalent level.

Owner‑Side Mindset (Preferred): Strong preference for candidates with owner‑team experience who have held direct accountability for construction outcomes. EPCM‑based candidates are also welcome, provided they bring deep, hands‑on construction management experience and have operated with real site authority.

Authority Step‑In Readiness: Demonstrated ability to step directly into live projects, integrate into established teams and systems,

and take control without a ramp‑up period.

Northern/Remote Execution Experience: Proven success delivering construction in remote or cold‑weather environments with logistical constraints and compressed construction windows.

Contractor Management Strength: Experience managing multiple contractors in collaborative, non‑lump‑sum arrangements, with a track record of resolving issues early and maintaining schedule discipline.

Technical Judgment: A solid technical foundation in engineering, construction, or a related discipline. A professional designation is not required, but you must be technically fluent enough to challenge contractors, interrogate schedules and methods, and recognize unrealistic or unsupported plans.

Cultural Fit and Collaboration: A leadership style that emphasizes integration, collaboration, and alignment with established owner practices. This role requires working within an existing project framework, not running a standalone operation.

Schedule‑Driven Leadership: Highly organized, decisive, and comfortable operating in a schedule‑critical environment with limited tolerance for delays.

What’s In It For You

Flagship Project Exposure: A senior construction leadership role on one of the most significant greenfield gold developments in Canada.

Real Accountability: Direct responsibility for construction outcomes within a disciplined, owner‑led execution environment.

Environment Stability and Backing: The support of a well‑capitalized organization combined with the challenge of a large, complex new build.

Professional Legacy: The opportunity to play a defining role in building a world‑class mining operation from the ground up.

High‑Performance Culture: A professional environment that values safety, collaboration, technical rigor, and disciplined execution.
