Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineering Developer to join the Packaging and Deployment Team. The team supports creating, testing and maintaining Zero Touch Installations (ZTI), Light Touch Installations (LTI), and automated deployment solutions. You will participate in planning and executing this work as part of the team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in technical reviews.
- Assist in planning and estimating future work.
- Automate tasks and deployment processes using development or scripting skills to reduce turnaround times for product development or deployment.
- Maintain and expand automated test frameworks and write automated tests.
- Collaborate with Packaging test team members to develop test skills and gain familiarity with the technology under test.
- Collaborate with the Packaging development team to define requirements, develop, review use cases, and design.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, focusing on test artifacts such as test plans and test cases.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvements.
- Engage with customer representatives, vendors, and other department staff.
- Support the execution of test cases and coordinate with the development team and stakeholders to assess testing results.
- Write system problem reports on issues encountered during test execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Applied Science or related technical/scientific field.
- 2+ years of applicable experience.
- Proficient in software development using Object Oriented languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
- Scripting experience (ideally with PowerShell).
- Experience in investigation, analysis, and resolution of complex system issues, with ability to understand interdependencies between subsystems.
- Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to describe technical subject material effectively to non-technical audiences.
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Experience with configuration and deployment of Microsoft Server OS, Windows OS and VMware, with networking understanding.
- Experience with Microsoft System Center components, such as MECM.
- Experience with automated testing on Windows and DevOps.
- Experience with automation and configuration management using Ansible.
- Experience with virtualization and VMware products.
- Experience with workflow tracking tools such as Jira, IBM EWM, or IBM ETM.
- Experience with revision control systems such as Git or Artifactory.
Security and Eligibility
General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada must be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and all workforce security-assessed. Successful applicants must meet security requirements, including the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements to access technical data, classified areas, or information subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Compensation and Benefits
The hiring range for this position is $75,000-$91,000.
Offers are based on internal equity and qualifications, including relevant experience, technical and non-technical skills, and education/certifications.
