Overview
Strescon Limited (OSCO Construction Group) is a precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer established in 1963, serving the Atlantic Provinces, the New England region of the United States, and Bermuda. The company produces architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon operates facilities in Saint John, NB (70,000 sq. ft.) and Bedford, NS (50,000 sq. ft.), with an additional 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John manufacturing standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems (pipe, manholes, catch basins).
Job Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring our products meet quality standards and customer specifications, during and following the production process. The ideal candidate must effectively communicate with other departments and shop/field personnel with a focus on quality, detail orientation and ownership. The QC Inspector will monitor and suggest improvements to inspection processes and controls to ensure manufactured products meet drawing specifications through various stages of production, promoting a well-trained workforce through shared knowledge in the department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure finished concrete products meet the quality standards set by the Company or PCI or CPCQA.
- Represent the company professionally when dealing with internal and external customers and ensure quality control standards are met.
- Measure, identify and verify materials and sizes of fabricated components against detailed drawings.
- Assist in achieving departmental goals within targeted budgets by meeting deadlines for workload completion.
- Monitor the concrete manufacturing process by testing physical properties and assessing aesthetic quality during pouring and post-pouring conditions.
- Implement corrective actions, when required, after consultation with Project Management, Engineering and/or QC Manager.
- Communicate effectively with staff and management.
- Proactively suggest improvements to current processes.
- Ensure final product meets customer standards before shipping.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements
- Minimum two-year Engineering Technology diploma, or equivalent experience in a Quality Control position (asset).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/shop drawings.
- Willingness to pursue PCI certification.
