CPA Ontario An Opportunity To Utilize your Public Accounting Expertise To Contribute to Regulatory Excellence and Public Protection CPA Ontario is currently in search of a
Director, Public Accounting
who will be a strategic and collaborative member of the regulatory leadership team, responsible for oversight, evolution, and communication around public accounting in Ontario. This role blends deep regulatory expertise with a dynamic, relationship-driven approach to influence policy, support national harmonization, and drive initiatives that protect the public interest while serving as a trusted advisor across CPA Ontario, contributing to cross-functional projects, mentoring staff, and championing a regulatory mindset throughout the organization. Your expertise empowers you to: Deliver regulatory leadership and provide standards oversight:
Lead the development, interpretation, and application of public accounting instruments including acting as subject matter expert on licensing, audit quality, and Canadian and international standards. Monitor global and national developments in public accounting and proactively recommend changes to CPA Ontario’s regulatory framework. Advise firms and practitioners through regulatory complexities and change and engage stakeholders on public interest issues. Represent CPA Ontario on national and inter-provincial working groups:
Support harmonization and regulatory innovation. Oversee the Public Accounting Standards Committee (PASC), including governance, reporting, appointments, and effectiveness. Execute on strategic initiatives and thought leadership:
Act as a key liaison within and between the Regulatory & Standards team and other departments, ensuring alignment and responsiveness. Support CPA Ontario-wide initiatives, demonstrating a proactive, hands-on approach and collaborative spirit. Champion our culture of mentorship, leadership and development : Serve as a formal and informal mentor and champion internal engagement as a culture leader. Model CPA Ontario’s values through respectful persistence, pragmatic decision-making, and a commitment to continuous improvement. You are the ideal candidate if: Education and Experience: You hold an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting or business and a CPA designation along with a minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience in regulatory, public accounting and / or policy environment. A PAL (Public Accounting License) is preferred. Proven skills and abilities: Results:

You are experienced at leading complex projects, influencing across functions in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment and can work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and partners. Resilience:
You have a proven ability to drive multiple projects forward with a relentless focus on delivery. You can navigate issues and gain support without adversely affecting timelines and outcomes. Communications Skills:
You are a strong communicator capable of synthesizing complex issues and conveying information to all levels of internal and external stakeholders, senior management teams and partners in a clear and concise manner. Diplomacy, Interpersonal and Relationship Building Skills:
