As a Software Development Engineer, you will provide both strategic and tactical oversight to build the features and functionality required to have a best in class offering to our authors.You will be able to show your passion for authors and disrupting the publishing world by building and delivering systems at Amazon scale. Come, join us and build the future!Key job responsibilitiesYou will solve ambiguous business problems and map them to elegant technical solutionsYou will use object-oriented concepts, algorithms and data structures to build systems at Amazon scaleYou will design, launch,



and re-architect multi-tier systems with large amounts of dataYou will quickly adapt to fast-paced development environment with bias towards simple and extensible codeAbout the team Team owns the foundational framework and services involved in end to end publishing of books from initial negotiation to paying royalties. The primary goal of the team is to provide the best experience to authors in publishing books with Amazon. The foundational systems owned by the team helps improve the quality and efficiency of publishing books. Team's technical ownership areas include resilient distributed systems, generative AI agentic workflows, secure customer facing applications and data warehousing solutions. The team balances the delivery of advanced new solutions with continuous improvement to existing software.Basic Qualifications3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of current and existing systems experienceExperience programming with at least one software programming languagePreferred Qualifications3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experienceBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalentAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
